Heats Up With Hot New Releases This Summer

St. Augustine, Fla. (April 22, 2009) – This summer, the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX® Theater will feature a blockbuster line-up of films on the big screen. From May through July, the largest IMAX Theater in Northeast Florida will open some of the year’s most anticipated releases. For show times and ticket information, visit www.wgv.com or call 904-940-4123.

Star Trek – The IMAX Experience (opens May 7)

Tickets on sale beginning April 24
From director J.J. Abrams, producers Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk and screenwriters Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman comes a new vision of the greatest space adventure of all time, "Star Trek," featuring a young, new crew venturing boldly where no one has gone before. The greatest adventure of all time begins with the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with action, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock (Zachary Quinto), was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before!

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian – The IMAX Experience (opens May 22)

Tickets on sale beginning May 1
It’s a new “Night” and “Museum” for Ben Stiller, who is joined by several other stars from the original film, as well as new characters from history—including Amy Adams as famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart, Hank Azaria as villainous Egyptian pharaoh Kahmunrah, Christopher Guest as Russian tyrant Ivan the Terrible and Alain Chabat as Napoleon. Owen Wilson is back as cowboy Jedediah, and Robin Williams again rides into history as Teddy Roosevelt. The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world’s largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone’s rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy’s ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker’s lounge chair. No major film has ever shot inside the Smithsonian in Washington…until Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – The IMAX Experience (opens June 24)

Tickets on sale beginning May 29
DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures present a Michael Bay film, the sequel to the highly successful big-screen adaptation of the Transformers toy line. Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots return for the live-action, as much of the original cast returns for the second installment, including Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro, with Rainn Wilson joining in the fun as a college professor.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (opens July)

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Tickets to the special engagement films listed will be $13 for adults, $12 for military, seniors and students and $9 for children ages three to 12. Tickets to the special engagement films matinee showings (Monday through Friday before 5 p.m.) will be $9 for all ages.
