World Golf Hall of Fame Celebrates
2009 PLAYERS Championship

April 30, 2009 (St. Augustine, Fla.) – World Golf Hall of Fame has created a special display that takes a look at some of THE PLAYERS Championship history, including special moments made by Hall of Fame members.

Recently announced 2009 Inductee Lanny Wadkins, who won the event 30 years ago, will have his first artifact on display beginning next week: the driver he used to win the 1979 PLAYERS.

“Residents and guests of Florida’s First Coast are always excited about the return of THE PLAYERS,” said Jack Peter, Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Hall of Fame. “We wanted to share in that enthusiasm by recognizing the championship and especially the Hall of Fame members who have won it, including Wadkins, who will be inducted this November.”

Other artifacts on display include Tom Kite’s collection of THE PLAYERS money clips from nearly 30 years and the commemorative PING gold putter Greg Norman was given following his record-setting 1994 victory.

In addition to the historical text, photos and video of the championship, the display chronicles the significant charitable impact the championship has had on Northeast Florida since 1977.

Currently featuring the special exhibition “Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory,” the World Golf Hall of Fame is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Admission to the museum includes a round on the 18 hole natural grass putting course and a film in the adjacent IMAX Theater.  For more information or to plan your visit, go to www.wgv.com.
