World Golf Hall Of Fame Seeking Participants For Its Sixth-Annual Putting Championship

New Pro Division Added for 2009; Amateurs Compete for $10,000 in Prizes

St. Augustine, Fla. (March 31, 2009) –The World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village will host its Putting Championship for the sixth consecutive year beginning Saturday, April 18th. Open to all amateur golfers in Northeast Florida, the event offers the opportunity to win more than $10,000 in prizes.  Additionally, for the first time, the World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Championship will host a pro division open to all PGA of America Club Professionals and tour professionals Sunday, May 3rd. 

Presented by AT&T The Real Yellow Pages, Coca-Cola, LastMinute Golfer and 1010 XL, the event will host qualifying rounds for amateurs Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th and will continue Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th.  The eight competitors with the lowest qualifying scores from each weekend will receive prizes and compete for the title of “World Golf Hall of Fame Amateur Putting Champion” Saturday, May 2.

Registration for amateurs is $35 and should be made in advance by calling 904-940-4010 or visiting the April events calendar at www.wgv.com.  All amateur entrants will receive a gift bag, a practice round on the putting course, admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame featuring the special exhibit Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory, lunch at Fairways Café the day of qualifying as well as golf offers and discounts from LastMinute Golfer and other area courses.

The one-day, stroke play pro division event will be held Sunday, May 3rd, beginning at 12 p.m.  There will be cash prizes for the lowest three scores posted and the total purse will begin at $1,000, increasing based upon participation.  Registration for the pro division is $15 and participants must register in advance by calling 904-940-4010. 

The World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Course is an 18-hole natural FloraDwarf Bermuda grass course designed to USGA and GCSAA specifications.
