"In Their Own Words"
Stories from Solheim Captains and Participants

In 1998 I asked PGA TOUR players who had played the course before to write key notes about Muirfield Village to help my players with the course. Players like Tom Lehman and Justin Leonard gladly obliged, and I think it meant a lot to the team to get both the support and insight.

My most memorable moment was in 1998 at Muirfield Village, the match of Meg Mallon and Juli Inkster. Juli made the putt at 17 and did her famous twirl dance all around the green. That was a huge boost for the team the next day.

I loved the opportunity to play at Muirfield Village and the week is a wonderful memory, in part because my sister [Charlotta] was on the team.

The event at Muirfield Village was all about unbelievable looks, the first coming in the Saturday morning foursomes. Juli Inkster and I were playing Helen Alfredsson and M.L. deLorenzi and the tension was so thick on the first tee you could have cut it with a knife. I walked over to Juli in the starter's tent and used the quote from Top Gun. '"Don't ever leave your wing man." The look was priceless... somewhere between... "you got it" and "they are toast". We went on to win the match 1 up at the 18th.
